Big 12 recruiting scorecard: TCU, Oklahoma State host ESPN 300 stars

Here's what's new on the Big 12 recruiting trail entering the final week of conference play:

BAYLOR

Total commits: 18

ESPN 300 commits: 8

The latest: The Bears landed a new commitment Sunday from a junior college standout: Coffeyville C.C. OG Branton Autry. The No. 33 recruit in the ESPN JC 50 (and the No. 1-rated offensive guard) picked Baylor over a dozen other offers. He'd initially committed to Florida but reopened his recruitment in late October. Baylor's O-line will be full of new faces next year, and Autry could help right away.

IOWA STATE

Total commits: 11

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: It'll be interesting to see how new coach Matt Campbell attacks the next few months of recruiting to finish the 2016 class. Could he bring over a few of his commits from Toledo? The majority of his pledges there came from Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Toledo's top-rated commit is three-star DT Edrick Mathews.

KANSAS

Total commits: 11

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The guy at the top of the Jayhawks' board continues to be four-star DE Amani Bledsoe, and his recruitment continues to heat up. Bledsoe will visit Baylor this week for the Texas game and already has taken trips to Oregon, Oklahoma and N.C. State this season. He'd be a heck of a complement to Kansas' freshman DE Dorance Armstrong for the future.

KANSAS STATE

Total commits: 11

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The Wildcats went to the juco ranks for their latest commitment, OG Chris Gaynor. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound lineman earned all-conference honors this season at Dodge City C.C. and chose K-State over West Virginia, Boise State, Iowa State and several more offers.

OKLAHOMA

Total commits: 12

ESPN 300 commits: 3

The latest: The Big 12 champs are rolling on the recruiting trail these days. They picked up pledges last week from three-star RB Abdul Adams, a former Michigan State commit, as well as 2018 OT Brey Walker from nearby Moore, Oklahoma. Yep, 2018. Walker already is a monster at 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds with offers from Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma State and Arkansas.

OKLAHOMA STATE

Total commits: 19

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The Cowboys got five-star stud TE Isaac Nauta for an official visit to witness Bedlam this weekend. Nauta is ESPN's No. 10 overall ranked recruit and is focusing on Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, Ole Miss and the Pokes. The firing of Mark Richt should shake up his recruitment, especially since Nauta has been planning to enroll early.

TCU

Total commits: 15

ESPN 300 commits: 5

The latest: The Horned Frogs had three big-time defensive backs in the house Friday for their win over Baylor: ESPN 300 CB Trayvon Mullen, ESPN 300 Oregon commit Jared Mayden and juco DB Markell Simmons of Pima C.C. Mullen was wowed by his trip and will see Florida State and Clemson next. Simmons had Nebraska and Utah at the top of his list prior to seeing TCU and will decide on Dec. 16.

TEXAS

Total commits: 12

ESPN 300 commits: 2

The latest: After missing out on top targets RB Devwah Whaley (who committed to Georgia) and DT Jordan Elliott (Michigan), Texas' staff hit the road this weekend for an in-home visit with another coveted target: ESPN 300 S Brandon Jones of Nacogdoches, Texas. Assistant Jeff Traylor has been successful in East Texas so far, but winning the battle for Jones would be huge.

TEXAS TECH

Total commits: 26

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The first to find out about Texas Tech's plans to make changes on its defensive staff were its committed recruits. That's how word leaked out Sunday that assistants Mike Smith and Kevin Curtis are leaving the staff. Their departures haven't led to any decommitments so far, and you'd think most of Tech's 15 defensive pledges will stay on board.

WEST VIRGINIA

Total commits: 22

ESPN 300 commits: 1

The latest: West Virginia hosted three-star LB/S Khaleke Hudson of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, for its win over Iowa State, and he could make a return trip for an official visit. Hudson recently canceled his official visit to Virginia Tech and appears to be focusing on WVU, Penn State, Pitt and Michigan at this point.
