Soon after the NFL draft wrapped up on Saturday afternoon, these guys’ phones started blowing up. Here’s a recap of the more than 45 former undrafted Big 12 players who are heading to NFL camps, either on free-agent deals or for tryouts.
Trevone Boykin and Eric Striker were the big-name UFAs this year out of the Big 12, but the list of guys who’ll get a shot is a long one. Keep in mind a few players missing from this group, such as former Oklahoma State DE Jimmy Bean and Texas LB Peter Jinkens, are coming back from injuries and won’t sign yet.
They’re facing long odds to make an NFL roster, sure, but the Big 12 has had quite a few undrafted success stories in recent years. Chris Harris Jr., Justin Tucker, Danny Amendola and Tony Jefferson all managed to find their place in the league after going undrafted. A few of these players will, too.
