With Big 12 expansion set to be a talking point during the summer months, Memphis is a making a push to be considered, writes Phil Stukenborg of the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
A snippet of the story:
"If Memphis fails to earn an invitation to join the Big 12, it won’t be for lack of trying. Earlier this week, U of M president M. David Rudd released a Memphis promotional publication — highlighting the finer points of the city and its major university — on his Twitter account. It is the same publication he sent to University of Texas president Dr. Gregory Fenves in December, ostensibly to update Fenves of the U of M’s attractiveness as a Big 12 expansion candidate."
Rudd's tweet:
Read why Memphis, the UofM & Tiger Athletics are all special. Great story w compelling data.https://t.co/FaIdoMOdzf pic.twitter.com/tEe1xDobr9

With the conference making noise about potential expansion, we should expect to see more schools making a push to be considered.
I still have major reservations about the options for expansion and the decision to expand in general, but several schools, including Memphis, have a solid argument to be considered if the Big 12 makes that decision.
It could be a busy next few months for the Big 12 and several Group of 5 schools across the nation.
