play
Championship weekend has major CFP implications (2:19)

Kirk Herbstreit breaks down championship weekend's biggest matchups, including Georgia's rematch with Auburn and TCU's rematch with Oklahoma. (2:19)

It's championship weekend and here are the Big 12 championship game picks from ESPN reporters Jake Trotter and Sam Khan Jr. (all times ET). Visit our college football PickCenter page for additional information on this game and many more.

No. 11 TCU vs. No. 3 Oklahoma, 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Fox

Trotter: Gary Patterson will have his team ready to play, and if there’s a defensive scheme to slow down Baker Mayfield, he’ll find it. Problem is, that scheme might not exist. And even if TCU finds a way to keep Mayfield from going wild, the Horned Frogs will still have to outscore Oklahoma to win. Without running back Darius Anderson, it’s difficult to see that happening. -- Oklahoma 42, TCU 27

Khan: With this game being at JerryWorld as opposed to Norman the first time around, I don't imagine TCU will run into the kind of buzzsaw it did in the first meeting. That said, the Sooners are still the better team. When you have someone who has played as stellar as Mayfield has all season long, it's hard to bet against the Sooners. I agree with Jake, I think Patterson will have the Frogs ready. I think defensively, they'll play better than they did in the last meeting, but it won't be enough. -- Oklahoma 34, TCU 24.
