Elusive running back Eddie Lacy opted to stay close to home and accept a scholarship offer from Alabama, beating out a list of suitors that included Oklahoma.
Lacy, a 5-foot-11, 200-pounder from Dutchtown High School in Geismar, La., was ranked No. 143 nationally by ESPNU. He rushed for 1,046 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2008.
His strength and durability is expected to help him become a 25-carry back when he develops in college. But the presence of players like DeMarco Murray and Mossis Madu at Oklahoma in front of him might have helped steer him to stay within the SEC.
