Griffin's Heisman campaign gains legitimacy

I suppose this makes it official. Baylor announced on its blog that Robert Griffin had received a letter this week from the Heisman Trust announcing him as an official candidate for the award.

From This is Bear Country:

His "weekly on-field performances are gaining the attention of many of the 926 National Electors" and he is "considered a Heisman Memorial Trophy Contender" in 2010. The ballots will be mailed to electors Nov. 15 and finalists will be announced on Mon., Dec. 6.

There's more on Griffin on Baylor's awards page for the quarterback, including several videos.

He's also a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award and the Davey O'Brien Trophy.
