Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is set to take over for Urban Meyer as the head coach at Florida. Meyer resigned on Wednesday, citing a desire to spend more time with his family.
Muschamp, who will be a first-time head coach, was designated as the "coach-in-waiting" at Texas under Mack Brown.
"Obviously, things didn't work out that way,” Texas coach Mack Brown said in a statement. "We respect his decision and we are really happy for Will and Carol. He is a great coach and will be a good fit for Florida. It's close to home for him and he knows the league well.
"Our commitment remains that we will build the best coaching staff in the country and we will begin a nationwide search immediately for a new defensive coordinator."
Plenty more to come tonight on the blog.
