Kristi Dosh at Forbes Magazine is taking a look at college sports' finances conference by conference, and got around to running the numbers for the Big 12.
You'll need to head over to the link to see how it relates to the rest of the conferences, with a few more notes from the magazine, but here's how the Big 12's programs did in total revenue, expenses and profit.
Profit, of course, is simply revenue minus expenses. Texas leads the nation in revenue by over $21 million, ahead of Alabama. The next closest program in the Big 12, Oklahoma, makes over $35.5 million less than the Longhorns.
Before we start, a few notes on these numbers:
They are from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.
The expenses, revenues and profits are for the football programs only. The total athletic department numbers are available in the Forbes article.
