Forty-three members of the media voted in the preseason poll.
Forty-one voted Oklahoma No. 1.
Here's how the media's preseason poll, unveiled this afternoon, looks.
1. Oklahoma (41) -- 428 points
2. Texas A&M (1) -- 362
3. Oklahoma State (1) -- 360
4. Missouri -- 281
5. Texas -- 265
6. Baylor -- 194
7. Texas Tech -- 191
8. Kansas State -- 140
9. Iowa State -- 93
10. Kansas -- 51
I like it. It looks very much like the ballot I turned in, and the only difference is I had Baylor above Texas. I've got no big complaints with it, obviously.
The difference between Texas A&M and Oklahoma State is, rightfully, razor thin. Just two overall points separate them, versus Oklahoma, which was No. 1 by 66 points.
Also, the 71-point gap between Texas and Baylor was extremely surprising. The two teams are, in some ways, inverses of one another (Baylor: great offense, bad defense; Texas: great defense, bad offense), but Texas certainly has history on its side.
Do you have any gripes?
