League rankings: Big 12 starts at No. 1

ESPN Stats and Info will be calculating the conference rankings each week, and after two weeks, the Big 12 has a three-point lead over the SEC.

The Pac-12 is third, more than 10 points behind the SEC.

That's no surprise yet, though only four of the six BCS computers have released their rankings. For now, the Big 12 is No. 1 in computers and No. 1 in the human polls. The Big 12 ended 2011 as the nation's No. 1 conference, according to the computers, but the SEC had the edge in the human polls.

The Big 12 is 15-2 in nonconference games, but only three of those games have come against BCS conference opponents. The Big 12 has seven games against BCS conference opponents scheduled. The league's only two losses were Kansas at home to Rice and Oklahoma State on the road at Arizona, both this past Saturday.

The SEC is 15-4 in nonconference play so far.
