2014 Big 12 Recruiting Scorecard: June

Recruiting is a year-round game, and it's time to take our monthly look at how this year's recruiting classes are progressing. Getting off to a quick start can get things rolling for any program. Here's how I'd rank the classes thus far. Click on each team to see the full class, though you'll need ESPN InsiderInsider to see it.

1. Texas

Total commits: 19

ESPN 300 commits: 6 (Two in ESPN 150)

Class notes: Texas still hasn't regained its top spot in the national rankings, but it is sitting at No. 4 after adding DE Sione Teuhema, WR Emanuel Porter, WR Garrett Gray, WR Dorian Leonard, K Corbin Daly and juco tight end John Thomas since our update last month.

2. Baylor Bears

Total commits: 19

ESPN 300 commits: 2 (one in ESPN 150)

Class notes: The Bears' class has more than doubled since having just nine commits a month ago. They're the biggest movers in these rankings, hopping over Texas Tech and Oklahoma to grab the No. 2 spot. We've written about the Bears' recent surge on the trail, and they've been quiet since adding James David, an ESPN 300 prospect and the nation's No. 10 ILB to the class.

3. Oklahoma

Total commits: 10

ESPN 300 commits: 4 (One in ESPN 150)

Class notes: The Sooners added just one nationally ranked recruit since our last update and sit at No. 21 in the national rankings. Brandon Glenn, the nation's No. 63 defensive tackle, joined the class, along with receiver Jeffery Mead.

4. Texas Tech

Total commits: 16

ESPN 300 commits: 0

Class notes: The Red Raiders still aren't on the board with a ESPN top 300 recruit yet, but have a solid class. They've added the nation's No. 61 DT, Ivan Thomas, since our last update. No. 51 OT Mildren Montgomery also joined the fold, along with No. 58 OT Robert Castaneda. No. 83 S Derrick Dixon and OT Justin Murphy fill the recent additions.

5. Oklahoma State

Total commits: 12

ESPN 300 commits: 3

Class notes: Oklahoma State moved up to No. 5 in our rankings and grabbed the No. 30 spot in the national rankings. They've added nine commits in the last month, including QB Mason Rudolph, the nation's No. 7 pro-style passer and No. 162 overall recruit. He's OSU's highest-ranked recruit now. The Cowboys also added Jordan Brailford, the nation's No. 32 defensive end.

6. Kansas

Total commits: 5

ESPN 300 commits: 2 (One in ESPN 150)

Class notes: Kansas is my pick for the biggest surprise of the recruiting season. It grabbed a commit from the nation's No. 2 center, Jacob Bragg, last week. It also added safety Andre Maloney and ATH Joe Dineen since our last update. Here's more on the Jayhawks class. The Jayhawks have jumped from No. 8 in the Big 12 last month to a spot at No. 6.

7. West Virginia

Total commits: 6

ESPN 300 commits: 2

Class notes: West Virginia grabbed a pair of ESPN 300 receivers in Lamar Parker and Jake McCrary on the same day last week, and also added a pair of offensive tackles in Josh Krok and Amanii Brown.

8. Iowa State

Total commits: 8

ESPN 300 commits: 1

Class notes: Receiver Allen Lazard was given a spot in the ESPN 300 and shrugged off a visit to Notre Dame. Great news for the Cyclones, who also added No. 60 OT Kory Kodanko, ATH Martinez Syria, WR Orion Salters, and TE Scott Schaffner.

9. Kansas State

Total commits: 6

ESPN 300 commits: 0

Class notes: Not a great month for K-State on the recruiting trail. The Wildcats have lost a commit since our last update, but still have the nation's No. 6 center, Dalton Risner, in the class.

10. TCU Horned Frogs

Total commits: 6

ESPN 300 commits: 0

Class notes: TCU added the nation's No. 77 OT in Austin Schlottman since our last update, and also earned a commit from ILB Jarrell Owens.
