Sooners finish sixth in final polls

Thanks to its late-season surge, which included a stunning win over Alabama in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, Oklahoma finished ranked sixth in both The Associated Press and the coaches' postseason polls.

The Sooners (11-2) also finish as the Big 12’s highest-ranked team.

Baylor (11-2) capped its first Big 12 title season in school history at No. 13 in both polls, after falling to UCF in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

The only other ranked Big 12 team was Oklahoma State, which lost to Missouri in the AT&T Cotton Bowl. The Cowboys (10-3) ended up ranked No. 17 in both polls.

Big 12 members receiving Top 25 votes included Texas Tech (8-5) and Kansas State (8-5), which both delivered impressing showings in their bowls. Tech defeated Arizona State 37-23 in the National University Holiday Bowl. K-State hammered Michigan 31-14 in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.
