Missouri would listen if the Big Ten came calling

At least one Big 12 school would be willing to talk to the Big Ten Conference, in case the conference asked them if they would be interested in joining them as a 12th member.

Missouri Chancellor Brady Deaton told the Kansas City Star that his school would entertain an offer if the Big Ten approached them about becoming an expansion candidate.

“The University of Missouri has not been contacted by the Big Ten," Deaton told the Star in a prepared statement. "Should there be an official inquiry or invitation, we would evaluate it based upon what would be in the best interest of MU athletically and academically."

It was released only an hour before the Big Ten's formal announcement later in the afternoon about its consideration of expansion.

The Big Ten's statement said they don't expect any action "in the short term."

But if and when it should come, Missouri officials seem like they would be willing to talk to them.
