Here’s the latest around the Big 12 on the recruiting trail this week:


Total commits: 12

ESPN 300 commits: 3

The latest: Addressing the trenches is the next step for the Bears. Skill position players make up eight of its 12 commitments with defensive tackle Sam Tecklenburg and junior college tackle Maurice Porter as a lone big guys on the commit list.

The latest: Cornerback Stephon Brown, who recently committed to the Cyclones, celebrated his decision with an interception to help Kissimmee (Florida) Osceola in its 22-8 win over Auburndale (Florida) over the weekend.

The latest: It was a rough week for the Jayhawk program but recruiting brought the best news of the week as KU has kept all 13 of its verbal commitments despite the dismissal of Charlie Weis last week. It remains to be seen if KU keeps this class together as Weis had been doing a solid job on the recruiting trail, particularly in Texas, and overall talent in the program was on the rise under the former coach.

The latest: The Wildcats reportedly offered Wisconsin commitment Mohamed Barry. The Class of 2015 three-star linebacker from Loganville (Georgia) Grayson is considering making an official visit to Kansas State.

The latest: The Sooners offered Coconut Creek (Florida) cornerback Trayvon Mullen. The No. 13 prospect in the ESPNJr300, Mullen already boasts offers from West Virginia, Alabama, Ohio State, UCLA, Auburn and others.

The latest: Offensive line is a clear area of emphasis for OSU and new offensive line coach Bob Connelly with four offensive line commits on their verbal list including junior college prospects Deya Mhiesen and Brandon Pertile.

The latest: Several recruits were on hand to see TCU upset Oklahoma in person on Saturday including Horned Frogs commit Jarrison Stewart (Mesquite, Texas/Horn). The three-star receiver has been committed to TCU since January.

The latest: The Longhorns made several offers in the past week with Class of 2016 prospect Erick Fowler, junior college prospect Justin Martin and tight end Chris Clark among the recruits claiming UT offers in the past week.

The latest: Tech offered Dallas Skyline athlete Kylan Johnson last week. The three-star prospect already boasts offers from Iowa State, Arkansas, UCLA and Wisconsin. At 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, he has the size to play several different positions at the next level.

The latest: WVU continues to wear out the recruiting trail, landing another commitment last week with a verbal from Huber Heights (Ohio) defensive tackle Robert Landers. He decided to commit to the Mountaineers while on a visit to Morgantown, West Virginia over the weekend.
