The second College Football Playoff rankings were revealed Tuesday night, but they brought little change to the Big 12 bowl projections.
With the Allstate Sugar Bowl serving as a semifinal site and TCU still on the outside of the top 4 at No. 6, the Horned Frogs remain in a non-semifinal New Year's Day bowl. After moving up two spots to No. 7, Kansas State joins TCU in a New Year's Day bowl as one of the top 12 teams in the rankings.
The winner of this weekend's TCU-Kansas State game, however, could be knocking on the door of the playoff in next week's rankings.
Additional movement to the bowl picture this week includes Oklahoma State dropping out of bowl eligibility. The way the Cowboys have been playing lately, they don’t have the look of a team that will win another game this season.
If both Oklahoma State and Texas fail to reach six wins, the Big 12 will have to forfeit away two of its bowl spots.
