Some words from Gary Patterson could help TCU's baseball team this weekend.
The Horned Frogs football coach hosted the school's baseball team at his home earlier this week and had a few words of advice for TCU star closer Riley Ferrell, one of the nation's top pitchers who has a pair of blown saves in the past two weeks. Even though his recent struggles have been in the spotlight, Ferrell has converted 32 of 34 save attempts during his career heading into TCU's Super Regional with Texas A&M beginning Saturday.
Thus, Patterson told Ferrell he was like a cornerback on the football team, writes Carlos Mendez of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Patterson told Ferrell he was like a cornerback for his defense, writes Carlos Mendez of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
"He said a good cornerback might make nine out of 10 plays a game, but the one that he misses ends up being the one that everybody looks at,” Ferrell told Mendez.
Ferrell went on to say Patterson's words will help him "move on" heading into the best-of-three battle with the Aggies.
