Big 12 recruiting scorecard

Here's the latest from the Big 12 recruiting trail as summer camp season gets rolling:

Total commits: 9

ESPN 300 commits: 5

The latest: Baylor discovered a speedy sleeper wide receiver and locked him up Sunday. Denzel Mims, a wideout from Daingerfield, Texas, proved he was worthy of an offer at a weekend camp and committed quickly. Mims, a big 6-foot-4 target, won gold at the state track meet this year in the 200-meter dash. Sounds like a typical find for "WRU."

The latest: The Cyclones, still on the hunt for their first commitment of 2016, are making an effort to extend more offers in the state of Texas in the hopes of finding some future takes. Mesquite Horn receiver Jared Atkinson, Spring's Ka'Darian Smith and Dallas Bishop Dunne corner Joshua Drayden all recently picked up offers from the ISU staff and could be in play for visits.

The latest: Kansas' offensive line class will be critical in David Beaty's efforts to get this program back on the right track, and they added another intriguing lineman over the weekend in center Hunter Harris. The big interior lineman from powerhouse Aledo (Texas) High made the call after visiting this weekend. His younger brother, Wes Harris, is committed for TCU's 2017 class.

The latest: The Wildcats aren't going to give up on defensive end Xavier Kelly, ESPN's No. 164 overall rated recruit. Even though he decommitted from K-State earlier this spring after big-time programs started showing interest, Kelly reportedly isn't ruling out the possibility of keeping KSU in the top five he releases later this summer. Kelly, the No. 1 recruit in Kansas, is living in Georgia this summer and recently visited UGA.

ESPN 300 commits: 1

The latest: Oklahoma still is trying to finalize its 2015 class but is dealing with some last-second drama. In-state tight end signee Dalton Wood arrived in Norman last week then abruptly left, raising questions about whether he still plans to follow through and join the program this summer. The three-star athlete recruit was OU's only tight end signee.

The latest: We mentioned a few weeks ago that Oklahoma State might have to fight to keep quarterback commit Nick Starkel. Well, the threat is getting real. Texas A&M recently offered a scholarship to Starkel, and he could become a priority target for the Aggies after they missed out on four-star dual-threat quarterback Jalen Hurts (who picked Alabama) this weekend.

Total commits: 12

ESPN 300 commits: 5

The latest: The Horned Frogs' class is off to a hot start, but they still need a defensive tackle. Keep an eye on Ross Blacklock, the rising Fort Bend Elkins lineman who took part in TCU's camp in Manvel last week. The Frogs still are one of his three favorite schools, though a new offer from Texas A&M might have shaken up his recruitment. Blacklock is closing in on a dozen offers so far.

ESPN 300 commits: 2

The latest: The Longhorns finally are making a move for ESPN 300 defensive end Isaiah Chambers, and he took an unofficial visit to Austin last week soon after receiving his offer. The No. 128 overall recruit has positive reviews for his trip to Austin and is expected to visit some big programs -- such as Alabama, Michigan and Oklahoma State -- this summer.

The latest: The Red Raiders keep on rolling. They picked up two new commitments from their West Texas backyard on Friday: four-star wide receiver T.J. Vasher and defensive tackle Ivory Jackson. Vasher, the nephew of former Texas great Nathan Vasher, chose Tech over offers from Ohio State and SMU. He's the 10th commitment Tech has added in the past month.

Total commits: 10

The latest: West Virginia kicked off the month of June with two new commitments: Lackawanna Community College tight end Trevon Wesco and Pittsburgh offensive guard Jacob Buccigrossi. Wesco is a big 6-foot-5, 260-pound pass catcher who played receiver in high school and turned down offers from UCF and Buffalo.
