Big East in the rankings and my ballot

West Virginia once again stands as the lone wolf among ranked teams for the Big East.

The Mountaineers are 21st in both major polls and No. 25 in the latest ESPN.com power rankings. Pitt is very close to jumping back into the AP Top 25 and is on my ballot.

Speaking of which, here's how I voted this week:

1. Alabama

2. Ohio State

3. Boise State

4. TCU

5. Oregon

6. Texas

7. Iowa

8. Oklahoma

9. Wisconsin

10. Nebraska

11. Florida

12. South Carolina

13. Utah

14. LSU

15. Michigan

16. USC

17. Arizona

18. Arkansas

19. Auburn

20. Miami

21. Stanford

22. Cal

23.West Virginia

24. Pitt

25. Houston

I dropped WVU a couple of spots after an unimpressive (at least for 54 minutes) showing at Marshall. Meanwhile, I put Pitt back in as I was pretty impressed with how Utah played in Week 2. The Panthers also beat a really strong FCS team in New Hampshire.

No one else from the Big East is really on the Top 25 radar right now. UConn is talented enough to be there, but the Huskies don't get any real statement games to erase that Week 1 blowout at Michigan for a while. They'd have to be incredibly good against Temple, Buffalo and Vanderbilt to get voters' attention. Rutgers is 2-0 but not looking great because of its offense. And Cincinnati would have to beat NC State and Oklahoma back-to-back to get in.
