Big East race update

We are only two weeks into Big East play, but a few things are becoming clear.

South Florida, which is already 0-2, isn't going to win the league title. Three of the preseason favorites -- West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati -- are all 1-0, while the Panthers and Bearcats have notched all-important conference road wins.

Rutgers is 1-0 and still in the hunt, though the Scarlet Knights are going to have to get a lot better on offense to be a serious contender. Louisville and Syracuse each are improved, but losing conference games at home has put them in a tough spot. UConn (0-1) isn't out of it yet, but the Huskies need to win at Louisville this week to avoid falling too far behind.

A couple of things to remember: After winning at Louisville, Cincinnati now has to play only two more league road games, though they could be doozies -- at West Virginia and at Connecticut. The Mountaineers also benefit from having just three road games in league action. Pitt has its next two games at home and needs to take care of business at Heinz Field, because three of its final four are on the road.

There's still a ton of football left to be played.
