Holgorsen watch heats up at West Virginia

Several media outlets are reporting that a deal is close to being finalized for Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen to come to West Virginia in that same capacity for a year before taking over as head coach for Bill Stewart in 2012.

Here is the story from the Charleston Gazette. And another from the Charleston Daily Mail. The Austin American-Statesman is reporting that it will be a six-year deal for Holgorsen.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which first reported the Holgorsen succession plan, reached Stewart by phone on a recruiting trip. Stewart said he hadn't spoken with West Virginia athletic director Oliver Luck. The paper also reports that the contract with Holgorsen should be completed by the end of the week.

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy told reporters only that "West Virginia has expressed a very strong interest" in Holgorsen.

I have lots of thoughts about this potential arrangement but will wait until we get official confirmation before offering them up. In the meantime, sound off with your thoughts on this possible move.
