Syracuse will head to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl against Kansas State without two contributors, including a starting defensive tackle.
Orange coach Doug Marrone announced Wednesday that senior Andrew Lewis and freshman Brice Hawkes have been suspended for an unspecified violation of team rules and will miss the bowl game.
Lewis has started all 12 games this year, compiling 28 tackles. Hawkes, a linebacker, has appeared in 11 games, mostly on special teams.
Freshman Jay Bromley is listed as Lewis' backup at defensive tackle. Losing a key player along the front is not good news for the Orange, who have to deal with Kansas State's powerful running game.
