Big East recruiting scorecard

Signing day is one week away. With that in mind, it's time to update the current state of each Big East recruiting class (All information comes from ESPN.com's recruiting page):

Cincinnati

Current commitments: 25. Three-star and above players: 11. ESPNU150 commitments: 0

The buzz: Despite a 4-8 record in his first year, Butch Jones has done some nice work on the recruiting trail. He has filled a lot of needs and could wind up with the highest-rated class in school history.

Connecticut

Current commitments: 15. Three-star and above players: 2. ESPNU150 commitments: 0

The buzz: Despite the coaching change, UConn hasn't been hit with a lot of decommitments yet. Still, new coach Paul Pasqaloni needs to add a few more pieces before signing day.

Louisville

Current commitments: 24. Three-star and above players: 20. ESPNU150 commitments: 3

The buzz: The Cardinals have the top class in the Big East right now, full of lots of star power. Now it's just a matter of hanging onto those prized prospects for the next week.

Pittsburgh

Current commitments: 10. Three-star and above players: 7. ESPNU150 commitments: 0

The buzz: The makings of a very strong class fell apart after Dave Wannstedt's forced dismissal. New coach Todd Graham is trying to pick up the pieces and has gotten some commitments from kids he was recruiting at Tulsa.

Rutgers

Current commitments: 23. Three-star and above players: 18. ESPNU150 commitments: 0

The buzz: Rutgers is in line for a very solid haul, including a couple of players who were once pledged to Pitt. Greg Schiano hopes to add another headliner like running back Savon Huggins in the stretch drive.

South Florida

Current commitments: 21. Three-star and above players: 11. ESPNU150 commitments: 0

The buzz: USF's class has so far been light on superstars, but all that matters is that the players fit Skip Holtz's system. A couple of recent commitments from local star receivers calmed fears about the Bulls' ability to keep homegrown players home.

Syracuse

Current commitments: 26. Three-star and above players: 14. ESPNU150 commitments: 0

The buzz: This looks like the best class, top to bottom, in Doug Marrone's three recruiting seasons. The Orange have 13 players from New York and New Jersey but have also extended their net to other states.

West Virginia

Current commitments: 23. Three-star and above players: 16. ESPNU150 commitments: 0

The buzz: This is another solid class but so far has lacked many real head-turners. Do the Mountaineers have any signing-day surprises in store like they pulled off last year?
