UConn has made a switch in coaching responsibilities for two assistants.
Longtime offensive line coach Mike Foley will now be in charge of the tight ends. Offensive coordinator George DeLeone, who coached tight ends last season, will now work with the offensive line.
DeLeone has plenty of experience working with the offensive line, having coached the position for most of his career. Though the Huskies did produce another 1,000-yard running back in Lyle McCombs, the offensive line was not as strong as it has been in the past. UConn also gave up 41 sacks, second-worst in the Big East. As a comparison, the Huskies allowed 15 last season.
To be fair, some of that was because of an inexperienced quarterback behind center. There was a lot of personnel shuffling, too. But there were times last season coach Paul Pasqualoni said he wanted more consistent play out of his line. Perhaps this is his way of making that happen.
