College football is more than what takes place between the lines, and the players who excel in the classroom deserve recognition, too.
The National Football Foundation on Wednesday announced the members of the 2011 NFF Hampshire Honor Society. This list includes players from all NCAA divisions who maintained at least a 3.2 GPA and are considered starters or significant substitutes.
The Big Ten had 29 players qualify, and 10 teams plus Nebraska are represented. Ohio State and Indiana are among the five FBS programs with five or more players honored (BYU, Fresno State and TCU are the others).
