Nebraska, Michigan advance in tournament

Last week, SportsNation and EA revealed an "NCAA Football Traditions" tournament featuring 16 teams, including three from the Big Ten. Two teams from the league are still alive as that tournament heads into the quarterfinal round.

Michigan's Go Blue banner scored an upset win as a No. 11 seed versus No. 6 seed Colorado's Ralphie entrance. The Wolverines won with 62 percent of the vote and more than 78,000 total votes in the contest.

Can Michigan keep it going? It will face Clemson's tradition of Howard's Rock, the No. 3 seed in the field, in the quarterfinal round. Here's the matchup page where you can vote for the winner.

Speaking of upsets, Nebraska pulled off a huge one, no doubt fueled by the fervent Cornhuskers fan base. The team's tunnel walk tradition was a No. 15 seed against No. 2 Script Ohio at Ohio State. I thought the Buckeyes would win easily but discounted the passion of Nebraska voters. The Cornhuskers eked out a 53-47 voting edge over Ohio State.

Now Nebraska gets an old Big 12 rival. Its tunnel walk tradition will square off against Oklahoma's Sooner Schooner in the second round. Here's the matchup page for that, and it should be fun to follow the voting on this one.

If Nebraska and Michigan can continue their upset streaks, they would meet in another Big Ten elimination game in the semifinals next week.

Make sure to go vote for your favorite tradition.
