BOSTON -- A young Bruins fan who was hit in the face by a puck during Friday's game TD Garden received a nice surprise Saturday morning from her favorite player.
Katie Jablonski, 11, of Barre, Mass., needed seven stitches to close a cut near her left eye after she was hit by the puck during Boston's 3-2 win over the New York Rangers. She was wearing a No. 17 Milan Lucic T-shirt, and when he found out she had been injured, he invited her to attend the team's skate Saturday morning.
Katie met many of the players, who signed her shirt and gave her an autographed stick and a puck. She also received a tour of the locker room, describing it as "wicked cool" and saying that Lucic is "definitely" her favorite player.
"It was so cool," she said. "Me and [Zdeno] Chara compared our injuries because he got that high stick."
She has been to a few games in the past but watched the end of Friday's game at Massachusetts General Hospital.
