B's face Capitals tonight at TD Garden

BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins will host the Washington Capitals in a preseason game Wednesday night at TD Garden.

The Bruins dropped their first preseason game to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night at Bell Centre in Montreal, 3-2.

Here’s the Bruins roster for Wednesday’s game:

FORWARDS: Simon Gagne, Ville Leino, Bracken Kearns, Patrice Bergeron, Jared Knight, Ryan Spooner, Matt Lindblad, Seth Griffith, Justin Florek, Alex Fallstrom, Brad Marchand and Alex Khokhlachev.

DEFENSEMEN: Dougie Hamilton, Zdeno Chara, Chris Breen, Matt Bartkowski, Adam McQuaid, Zach Trotman.

GOALIE: Tuukka Rask, Jeremy Smith.

Only Spooner and Gagne are playing back-to-back games. Bruins coach Claude Julien was critical of Spooner’s play after Tuesday’s game, saying the forward needs to play a more responsible defensive game. Spooner scored for Boston, but his defensive breakdown led to Montreal’s game-winning goal.

“It’s an opportunity to see more of them,” Julien said. “They’re all battling for spots and you want to make sure you give them great opportunities. At the same time, you want to make sure your team is balanced enough to be competitive and you’re getting a chance to look at certain players.”
