There won't be any Boston Pizza in British Columbia, at least for the duration of the Stanley Cup finals.
A restaurant chain called "Boston Pizza" re-branded its 62 locations in British Columbia as soon as the Boston Bruins clinched a spot in the finals. The chain will now be called "Vancouver Pizza."
As you can see in the screengrab above, their website now shows a line drawn through "Boston" with "Vancouver written under it.
In addition to having new signs at the stores and new stickers on the pizza boxes, LED displays and kiosks at Rogers Arena, the home of the Vancouver Canucks, will be updated. The changes will cost the company $20,000, according to the Vancouver Sun.
According to the Vancouver Sun, the restaurant thought of the idea to change its name last postseason when they thought the Canucks could face the Bruins.
"The stars didn't align at that time so we just kept it in the can," Brad Bissonnette, Boston Pizza's director of regional marketing said, according to the report. "Now, the city is on overdrive and it's really special to be a part of that."
When the Canucks were facing the Nashville Predators in the second round of the playoffs, a golf course in British Columbia named "Predator Ridge" changed its name to "Canucks Ridge."
