Ference, Paille skate; still day-to-day

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Injured Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference (lower body) and forward Daniel Paille (undisclosed) skated on their own Wednesday morning at Ristuccia Arena.

"That’s a good sign,” Bruins coach Claude Julien said. “They’re still day-to-day. I would say doubtful for [Thursday] unless something miraculous happens in the next 24 hours, but they’re obviously getting better and we don’t anticipate them being out too long.”

Bruins forward Benoit Pouliot, who was injured late in Tuesday’s 5-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, did not practice with the team on Wednesday and is listed as day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, too.

“We kept him off the ice today, again more of a precaution, and we’ll see how he feels tomorrow,” Julien said. “We’ll make a decision based whether he’s feeling good, better or if he can go or not.”

Ference was injured on March 1 during Boston's 4-3 overtime win over the New Jersey Devils. Paille was hurt during Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Islanders.
