The Boston Celtics announced that Rajon Rondo has been formally cleared to return from a one-game absence on Wednesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Rondo missed Saturday's game in Chicago while having screws removed from his surgically repaired left hand. He said Tuesday that he was expecting to play and the Celtics made it official on Wednesday after the team's morning shootaround.
Reserve guard Marcus Thornton, who sprained his right ankle during Tuesday's practice, was downgraded to out versus the Thunder. The Celtics will also be without rookie Marcus Thornton (ankle) and second-year center Vitor Faverani (knee).
