Pressey, Dawkins to Maine

The Boston Celtics assigned guards Phil Pressey and Andre Dawkins to the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League on Thursday.

Both players are expected to be in uniform when Maine hosts Iowa.

This is Pressey's first D-League assignment in his NBA career, but a chance for game reps after a tightened rotation has seen him log three DNPs over Boston's last four games. Dawkins, on a second 10-day contract with Boston, has appeared in four games for the Red Claws since he was signed to his first 10-day contract on Jan. 23. He is averaging 20 points per game while shooting 37.7 percent beyond the 3-point arc.

Pressey will also help fill the void at point guard after Maine's Tim Fraziers, who spent training camp with the Celtics, was signed to a 10-day contract by the Philadelphia 76ers. Frazier had recently been named a D-League All-Star.
