The 6-foot-2, right-hander was 23-1 for the Division 1 South finalists last season, including a perfect game, while compiling a 0.81 ERA with a WHIP of 0.66 in 155 innings pitched. Dawson struck out 198 against just 22 walks
At the time of her commitment, Dawson was also considering Boston University, the College of the Holy Cross and the University of South Carolina.
"I fell in love with Pitt from the moment that I stepped foot on the campus," Dawson said. "While I was looking at different schools, I realized that I wanted a school that had great academics along with great athletics, and Pitt had just what I was looking for.
"The coach, Holly Aprile, is great and we get along really well. I didn't get the same feeling from other schools as I got from Pitt. It's a wonderful school and I'm excited to spend my four years of college there."
