Each week leading up to April's draft, the plan will be to monitor the projected movement of prospects who might be available at the 22nd spot of the draft, where the Patriots select. ESPN analyst Mel Kiper's "Big Board" (Insider content) will serve as one guide.
Last week, Kiper had S Taylor Mays (Southern California), DE Brandon Graham (Michigan), LB Sergio Kindle (Texas), TE Jermaine Gresham (Oklahoma), RB Jahvid Best (California), WR Arrelious Benn (Illinois) and CB Patrick Robinson (Florida State) as possibilities in the 19-25 range.
None of those players moved higher on Kiper's updated board, although there are some new names to consider in the 19-25 range this week, such as:
DT Dan Williams (Tennessee)
OT Bryan Bulaga (Iowa)
OL Trent Williams (Oklahoma)
With the Patriots hitting on offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer in the 2009 draft, and also committing to Nick Kaczur through 2012, it would be a bit surprising to see them pick an offensive lineman in the first round. Defensive line would seem a more likely possibility.
