Faulk was Pats' Man of Year nominee

The NFL announced today that Redskins linebacker London Fletcher, Browns receiver Mike Furrey and Chiefs guard Brian Waters are finalists for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award.

Running back Kevin Faulk was one of 32 players under consideration, as he was the Patriots' nominee.

Each team picks one player for the only league award that recognizes a player's off-the-field community service as well as his playing excellence. Those players all receive a $1,000 donation to the charity of their choice.

The field of 32 is then narrowed to three by a panel including NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue, Connie Payton and others. The winner will be selected on Super Bowl Sunday.
