Patriots chatter at Pro Bowl

Comments from Patriots players Brandon Meriweather, Logan Mankins and Vince Wilfork from Sunday's Pro Bowl:

(on being in his first Pro Bowl) “Any time you get a chance to play with some of the best in the game, you have to embrace it. It’s a dream come true for me. Ever since I was little, I’ve been watching this game, hoping that one day, I would get a chance to play with some of these guys and actually play in it. Now that I’ve got my chance, I’m just trying to embrace it and stay humble.”

(on his first Pro Bowl being in Miami where he played in college) “It feels great. I’m loving every minute of it. To see some of the players that I played with and some that I played with at Miami, knowing that there’s 11 of us that made the Pro Bowl and just to see some of these guys on the field. I get to play with Big V [DT Vince Wilfork], [Ravens LB] Ray Lewis and some of these guys and it’s a dream come true.”

(on his experience over the last week) “It’s the Pro Bowl. It’s the same every year, but I want to win of course.”

(on representing the Patriots) "I’m trying to do my best to represent them. The fans in Miami, they sure let us know that they don’t like us down here.”

(on playing in Sun Life Stadium) “I’ve been here so many times, I’m used to playing here. The Pro Bowl is great. We have a lot of fun. It’s great meeting new guys and seeing guys you know, and this is the only time you get to see them.”

(on his Pro Bowl experience) “It’s always a good thing when you get all the elite players on one field in one place to come out and play a football game. It boils down to one thing, basically having fun and giving fans a chance to see everybody on the same field, the best-of-the-best playing a football game. It’s been fun. Florida’s home for me, so it’s been a lot of fun for me and my family. I like it.”

(on playing in front of his hometown crowd) “To play in front of family and friends, guys that you grew up with, playing with guys that I followed at UM [the University of Miami] and played with at UM. It’s a blessing for me. It’s an honor to be on the same field as these guys. I love it. UM just keeps putting out guys, and hopefully we can keep that going.”

(on his favorite part of the week) “Being down in some good weather.”
