Guyton plans to increase film work

FOXBOROUGH – Linebacker Gary Guyton is planning on expanding his film work as he enters his third season with the Patriots. Having played 84 percent of the team’s defensive snaps last season – the second-highest total of any New England defender other than safety Brandon Meriweather -- Guyton has plenty of film to dissect.

Guyton wants to improve watching film and then applying to what he sees on the field.

At Georgia Tech, Guyton estimated that he might have watched around six hours of film each week, a total that was impacted by his school work.

“In the league, it requires much more,” he said this morning at Gillette Stadium.

Asked what he can pick up from watching film at this time of year, Guyton explained that he’s watched his performance in games while reflecting on what he was thinking at the time of the play.

“A lot of games, a lot of plays, some you might forget,” he said. “You try to look at it through a different light.”
