The Patriots announced the release of tight end Robbie Agnone and quarterback Jeff Rowe today. Both were long shots to make roster.
One corresponding move is the claiming of quarterback Mike Teel off waivers from the Seahawks. Teel posted the following on his Twitter page: "Hello New England" and that move has been confirmed.
"Mike is looking forward to the opportunity to compete with the Patriots," said Neil Schwartz, Teel's agent.
Teel, who played at Rutgers, was waived by the Seahawks on Thursday when Seattle signed veteran J.P. Losman. Teel was drafted by the Seahawks in the sixth round last year, but with the team undergoing a regime change and looking for more mobility at quarterback, there were questions as to how Teel might fit.
Teel (6-3, 230) is headed to town and is expected to be with the team for the start of organized team activities on Monday.
The quarterback depth chart now has Tom Brady, Brian Hoyer, seventh-round draft choice Zac Robinson and Teel.
