What to expect from Pats camp coverage

The Patriots open 2010 training camp today, so here are some of the things you can expect to see in this blog on a day-to-day basis:

1. Observations from practice. The goal will be to take you to the practice fields, highlighting the in's and out's of each session.

2. Soundbites from players and coaches. Bill Belichick is scheduled to answer questions from reporters every day at 9 a.m. Players will conduct interviews after the first practice of the day, which will most often be around 11:15 a.m.

3. Video recaps. The news of the day will be recapped in a concise video report, complemented by a text-based recap.

4. Weekly podcasts. ESPNBoston's weekly podcast will now include a Patriots segment with fresh content. In a soon-to-be-posted podcast, I share some thoughts on coming to training camp.

Training camp is as close as reporters and fans will get to the team, and much can be learned from watching what takes place on the field.

I will be joined by Mike Rodak throughout camp as he will contribute to ESPNBoston.com's coverage in an intern-type role. Mike is from Abington, Mass., and is currently a student at Providence College. He is assisting Providence College's athletic department while working toward a degree in management. Mike, who has a sharp football eye, will bring a fresh perspective to the blog.

Ace Celtics reporter Chris Forsberg will also be chipping in to the coverage for the first two days of camp.

Our planning has been in the works for a while and now it's time to get to work.
