ANALYSIS: Danny Woodhead saw his role expand, playing in both the three-receiver package and also in some two-tight end sets. He signed with the team Sept 18, so this is a case of a quick study, as he’s immersed himself into the team’s system and gained the confidence of coaches to be on the field in critical situations. … Julian Edelman was not called on often, with the Patriots sticking with Randy Moss, Brandon Tate and Wes Welker as their top three receivers. Unlike last week, when the Patriots used a four-receiver/1-tight end package in the two-minute offense – which featured Edelman – the Patriots stuck with the more standard three-receiver package with Woodhead at running back. … Aaron Hernandez was part of more two tight end sets with Alge Crumpler, which was a new twist and limited Rob Gronkowski’s playing time. … Five of Sammy Morris’ snaps came at running back, one at fullback.
