When the Patriots traded for veteran linebacker Tracy White on Sept. 5, the move was a head-scratcher to some. Why would the Patriots ship undisclosed 2012 draft considerations to the Eagles for a player who wasn't going to make Philadelphia's roster?
The Patriots obviously felt the speedy White could improve their special teams units, and represented an upgrade over linebackers Pierre Woods and Eric Alexander.
Through four games, White has been worth the investment (assuming it's late-round considerations) when looking at the special-teams tackle leaderboard:
Tracy White -- 7 (4 solo, 3 assisted)
Matthew Slater -- 6 (3 solo, 3 assisted)
Devin McCourty -- 3 (3 solo, 0 assisted)
Rob Ninkovich -- 3 (1 solo, 2 assisted)
Four players tied with 2 apiece
