WR Taj Smith gets look from Pats

As part of their standard process of keeping emergency lists fresh and also considering options for the practice squad, the Patriots had wide receiver Taj Smith in for a workout.

The 27-year-old Smith, who played at Syracuse, went undrafted in 2008 and signed with the Green Bay Packers. He was released by the Packers during final cuts, and spent most of that season on the Colts’ practice squad. He returned to the Colts in 2009, spending a second season on their practice squad.

In 2010, Smith spent the preseason with the Colts before being released on Sept. 4.
