Wilfork: 'Good work done yesterday'

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork liked what he saw on the practice field Wednesday, and was hopeful that the team would put together another solid day Thursday.

"I think we got some good work done yesterday. I really think we got better as a football team yesterday and we need to continue that today," Wilfork said this morning before the Patriots hit the field for another full-pads session.

"I’m looking forward to another good practice today and hopefully that will be enough with the guys that are banged up. At this point in the year, you have a lot of guys with all types of injuries and bumps and bruises so we need to make sure that we can get those taken care of."

Wilfork's comments highlight the balance that the Patriots are trying to strike -- getting players healthy but also getting good work in. They still have the possibility of 4-5 more practices before the first playoff game.

"I think we started yesterday and going back out there again today is a big step for us. We can’t leave the field today thinking we took a step back," he said. "I think the focus level is there. I think everyone understands what is at stake."
