Sharper: Meriweather a Top-6 safety

When it comes to evaluating top safeties in the NFL, Darren Sharper offers a perspective few can. Sharper totaled 63 interceptions while playing the position for the Packers (1997-2004), Vikings (2005-2008) and Saints (2009-2010).

During a visit to NFL Network, in which the best safety in the NFL was debated, Sharper provided his list of the top safeties in the NFL.

1. Troy Polamalu (Steelers)

2. Ed Reed (Ravens)

3. Nick Collins (Packers)

4. Antrel Rolle (Giants)

5. Adrian Wilson (Cardinals)

6. Brandon Meriweather (Patriots)

Meriweather's place on the list figures to create some discussion in New England, as some might argue he wasn't the best safety on the team in 2010.

Meriweather has been to the Pro Bowl twice in his first four seasons. He has been durable, appearing in every game since he was selected in the first round of the 2007 draft, and has 12 career interceptions.
