FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Observations from Wednesday afternoon's practice, the Patriots' 15th of training camp, which was held in shorts and shells and on the Gillette Stadium field:
Head coach Bill Belichick made this a "game preparation" practice, giving players a feel for how they would come out of the tunnel and handle the opening coin toss.
Wide receiver Chad Ochocinco was a late arrival to the walkthrough session after missing about the first half of practice.
Tight end Rob Gronkowski, who left Monday's practice early and missed Tuesday's session, returned to the practice field in uniform and shells on Wednesday.
Defensive linemen Albert Haynesworth and Mike Wright were not seen for a fifth straight practice, making it highly unlikely they will play in Thursday night's preseason opener.
Linebacker Brandon Spikes, defensive lineman Shaun Ellis (active/PUP), offensive linemen Chris Morris (left leg) and Marcus Cannon (active/NFI), linebacker/safety Josh Barrett, and running back Kevin Faulk (active/PUP) were all spotted out-of-uniform on the sidelines at one point or another during the session.
Other than Haynesworth, Wright, and Ochocinco, the following players were not spotted on Wednesday: running backs Shane Vereen and Eric Kettani; wide receiver Brandon Tate; offensive linemen Matt Light (active/PUP), Dan Connolly (right elbow), and Ryan Wendell (calf); defensive linemen Ron Brace and Brandon Deaderick (both active/PUP); cornerback Ras-I Dowling; and safety James Sanders.
Rookie offensive lineman Mark Wetterer, who was claimed off waivers on Tuesday, was in uniform wearing No. 75.
Retired offensive lineman Stephen Neal took in another day of practice on Wednesday, chatting with former teammates and coaches.
Patriots president Jonathan Kraft's oldest son Harry took snaps at quarterback during the practice, making some impressive throws and getting pointers from quarterback Tom Brady along the way.
