FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots offensive lineman Logan Mankins' name has been added to the new FieldTurf at his alma mater, Fresno State, a result of a donation he made to the program.
The words "Mankins Family" are painted in black along the white boundary of the field, to the right of the Bulldogs' bench. In all capital letters, it stretches from the 20-yard line to the goal-line.
"It's down in the o-line corner, so that's a good spot for it," Mankins said Sunday, adding that he made the donation to help his good friend, Fresno State head coach Pat Hill, as the program installed new FieldTurf.
Mankins is arguably the best offensive lineman in Fresno State history -- he was the first-ever offensive lineman to be selected team MVP -- and his gesture shows that he hasn't forgotten where he got his start.
While he left his mark on the field, not allowing a sack or pressure all senior season and producing 16 touchdown-resulting blocks, Mankins' impact is still being felt in other ways. Now everyone who attends Bulldog Stadium will be reminded of that.
