The Carolina Panthers have claimed cornerback Darius Butler off waivers, reports Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer.
Butler was waived by the Patriots on Tuesday afternoon. With the NFL's worst record last season, the Panthers have waiver priority over all other teams. By placing a claim, they were automatically awarded Butler off waivers.
At around 8 p.m., Butler seemed to confirm the move by tweeting: "#PanthersNation I'm on my way!"
It is unknown at this point if any other teams placed waiver claims on the former second-round pick of the Patriots.
