Haynesworth returns; Mankins absent

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, who missed Sunday's game in Buffalo with a back injury, was back on the practice field for the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday.

Guard Logan Mankins, who played in Sunday's game in Buffalo, was not spotted during the media access portion of practice, which was held in full pads. The team's first participation report will be released at 4 p.m. and will shed light on Mankins' status.

Also not spotted at practice was tight end Aaron Hernandez (knee), offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back), and defensive lineman Mike Wright (concussion). All three players did not make the trip to Buffalo.

Meanwhile, safety Patrick Chung (right thumb), who practiced on Friday but did not play in Buffalo, was back on the practice fields on Wednesday, in addition to cornerback Ras-I Dowling (hip), who also did not play against the Bills.
