Patriots will open on the road

We'll find out the full schedule in a few hours, but we've already narrowed down the identity of the Patriots' opponent in the opener.

The Patriots just tweeted the following: "Some schedule nuggets for you superfans who can't wait til 7: Pats open the 2012 season on the road & close it at home". A short time later, they tweeted that the team is slotted to play four night games in 2012.

Alrighty then.

So we know the Patriots won't be opening against Peyton Manning's Broncos or Jim Harbaugh's 49ers (they play both of those teams at home). The potential Week 1 opponents are down to the Ravens, Titans, Seahawks, Jaguars, Bills, Dolphins or Jets.

The guess here is they'll open against the Ravens in a rematch of the AFC title game. Who do you think they'll play in Week 1?

The full schedule for the Patriots -- and the rest of the NFL -- will be announced at 7 p.m. (on ESPN).
