FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots defensive end Rob Ninkovich addressed reporters after the first day of the team’s mandatory three-day mini-camp on Tuesday.
Here are a handful of sound bites from the question and answer session:
On the importance of groupings at this point of the offseason.
“It really doesn’t matter. It’s kind of everybody out there trying to work together and guys playing all over the place just to get that team going together so everyone is communicating and on the same page.”
Are groupings more important this year because the team may rely on multiple different groupings this season?
“It’s always good for the young guys to get out there with the old guys and vice versa. Everybody, like I said, communicating, knowing what’s going on around them at the same time.”
On his scuffle with offensive lineman Ryan Wendell.
“Sometimes out there you get a little heated. I had to take a couple of laps, no big deal.”
On Trevor Scott.
“Trevor is a great player. He was in Oakland for a while. He had a minor setback a couple of years ago with an ACL, so I think now he’s feeling good and I’m happy to have him on the team. He’s a good player.”
On first round picks Dont’a Hightower and Chandler Jones.
"I think that Hightower, obviously, great player. Chandler, you know long, good pass rusher, the more guys that we have out there at the same time that can get after the quarterback and cover a little bit, it’s always going to help the team out. It’s exciting."
