Insider: Bills grade higher

If you were comparing the offseason moves of the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots, who gets the edge?

That was a question that came to mind when reading Matt Williamson's AFC offseason grades piece (Insider content), which puts the Bills atop the pack with an A-minus.

The Patriots aren't far behind, with a B-plus.

When looking at why Williamson had the Patriots graded behind the Bills, it appears the draft is the reason.

"In the draft, [safety Tavon] Wilson seemed like an extreme reach with the 48th selection overall, but safety was certainly a need position," he writes. "Actually, the Patriots made several odd picks outside of their first-rounders. But on defense, the big moves were trading up for [Chandler] Jones and [Dont'a] Hightower. I predict Jones will make several Pro Bowls in his career and should boost the Patriots' pass rush."

But while the Bills received a higher grade than the Patriots, Williamson still sees the division -- and the overall AFC -- running through Foxborough.

"As it stands today," he writes, "the Patriots are the best team in football."
